Up for grabs is my 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7. This car is pristine and very nice. Every show it goes to it turns heads and wins something. The car was bought by me in 2013 out of a gentleman's private collection in the Martha's Vineyard/NH area. It is the original color with the original interior. All gauges work except the clock inside. The car has capability to be hooked up to iPod for music as you cruise but has the classic radio. The seats have no rips, stains, or tears nor does the carpet. All windows and door locks work. Car came with the Mercury Mardi report and original books from 1967 where the car was deemed "Muscle car of the year". The car has dual exhaust with flowmasters and sounds like a beast. The engine possibly may need some work. When we got the car and had the exhaust cropped, we discovered the car smoked slightly. We had the top half of the engine re-done and replaced the valves, rocker arms, seals, and intake manifold, and carbas the mechanic stated the cylinder walls looked good and it didn't need re-ringed. Husband is guessing the smoking is compression. However, we've noticed at all shows most cars smoke and it isn't enough the car is "gulping" oil. The car runs great and all the parts that we did have re-done on the engine were hand picked by my husband from Summit Racing. We have not done anymore engine work for two reasons: 1. Lack of time and 2. car is rarely driven so it's kinda out of sight, out of mind until we pull it out and notice it a little. The smoking isn't bad either and doesn't affect the performance. But I want to be as honest as possible about the car. However, this may not need to be done-it is upto you.Automatic, wood trim in original, pristine condition, newer tires with cougar "running cat" wheels.
Book value can be seen on NADA is sitting right at $22-23,000. Car has original 289 engine with Merc-O-Matic Transmission.
Car is close to #1 condition and is inspected every year by American Collectors in order to be insured for the #1 value.
If your interested, email and more pics can be sent. *NOTE I do not have access to a lift. Pictures attached to this listing should capture, paint, interior, engine, and such. Car is garaged at my other home and can be seen and driven with escort. Serious offers only. **Please do NOT send ridiculous bids to me of $1,300 and such. This is a show car and I do NOT need to sell it and won't until the right buyer and price comes along. Car is represented excellent by me and this listing and I stand by this. If your serious, contact me, come look at the car, drive, think it over and make a REASONABLE offer.
